Charges against a Bradford man accused of entering a home and assaulting someone were bound to McKean County Court at a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Carlos S. Gamble II, 32, of Bradford, is charged with two counts of criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony and a third-degree felony; and one count of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.
Bradford City Police learned of the situation when an officer pulled Gamble over at 11:11 a.m. Dec. 29 at Kiwanis Court — and discovered that he had fresh gunshot wounds.
Through investigation, police determined that Gamble was shot while he was assaulting someone after he entered 65 Hillside Ave. without permission, the criminal complaint indicates.
Gamble had entered the home through an unlocked window, got into an argument with a male and a female, and then attacked them, the complaint alleged. The male was able to get away from Gamble and retrieve a handgun that was in the room.
Court records state that the male gave a verbal warning to Gamble, then shot Gamble to defend himself when Gamble rushed at him. Gamble left the scene and was pulled over by police afterward.
Gamble is free on unsecured bail.
Officials have not released the names of the male and female who Gamble allegedly attacked. No one has been charged for shooting him.
However, a misdemeanor charge of possession of a firearm prohibited has been filed against James G. Williams III, 28, of Erie, in connection to the alleged incident. Williams is slated to appear March 25 in McKean County Court for a last-day-to-plea conference.
