Five new local cases of COVID-19 were indicated in Wednesday’s reporting from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
McKean County had three additional cases for a total of 3,086 — 2,329 confirmed, 757 probable and 9,872 negative tests. One additional case was in Kane for 291 confirmed and 85 probable, while the other two were in Smethport for 293 confirmed and 40 probable. There was one additional death in McKean County for a total of 65.
Elk County had two additional cases for 2,370 — 1,253 confirmed, 1,107 probable and 5,578 negative tests. One case was in Ridgway for 281 confirmed and 185 probable, while the other was in Kersey for 88 confirmed and 109 probable.
There was no change in Potter and Cameron counties.
In Pennsylvania, there were 2,594 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 955,730. As of Wednesday, there were 1,530 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. One person was hospitalized in Elk County and one in Potter County. There were none listed for McKean County.
Also as of Wednesday, there were 43 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 24,439 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The state has reached a milestone of more than 1 million Pennsylvanians fully vaccinated.
Locally, Elk County has had 5,286 fully vaccinated, and 3,274 partially vaccinated; McKean, 2,409 fully vaccinated, 3,122 partially vaccinated; Potter, 678 fully vaccinated, 908 partially; and Cameron, 677 fully vaccinated, 669 partially.
