Bradford man accused of hiding from police
A Bradford man was arrested Tuesday for allegations he hid from police officers knowing that he was wanted on at least one warrant.
Andrew J. Beck, 30, was arraigned before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of flight to avoid apprehension, a third-degree felony, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday, Bradford City Police were dispatched to Kiwanis Court to assist Bradford City firefighters with a carbon monoxide detector that was sounding.
The Kiwanis Court manager told an officer that a man matching Beck’s description was in the apartment in question with the female who lived there, and the officer knew Beck had warrants from state parole and the Johnsonburg Police Department, the complaint stated.
The officer talked to the female resident, who said Beck was not in the apartment. Law enforcement officers were given permission to search the apartment and found Beck hiding in the kitchen with a curly blond wig covering his bald head, according to court records.
The complaint stated that Beck was in possession of heroin, methamphetamine and Suboxone, and he knew there was a warrant for him through state parole.
Court records indicate that Beck has an active drug delivery case out of Johnsonburg; also, that he is under state supervision for an assault case in McKean County and a conspiracy-drug delivery case in Elk County.
Beck is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is set for March 24.
