Four candidates have filed petitions for the three vacancies on Bradford City Council for the May 18 primary election, according to the McKean County elections office.
Tuesday was the deadline for filing nomination petitions. Ballot positions will be determined by casting lots at 10 a.m. March 17.
Current councilmen Terry Lopus and Tim Pecora will be on the ballot, as will former longtime Bradford mayor Tom Riel and newcomer Rob C. Ferguson. All are Republicans.
In McKean County races, incumbent Sheriff Dan Woods will be the sole candidate on the ballot for the position of sheriff. Incumbent controller Jody Bloomquist will be the sole candidate for his office, and incumbent treasurer Melissa Jo Smith will be the lone candidate for her office.
For McKean County prothonotary, the sole candidate is Vicky Madine. She serves as first deputy under current protonotary Laura Isadore, who is not seeking re-election. Madine is a Republican.
In Bradford Township, three candidates are seeking one term as supervisor: Laree Sue Behan, Robert Burrell and Lori Johnson, all Republicans. Supervisor Jim Erwin is not seeking re-election in the May primary.
In Foster Township, supervisor Gus Crissman is seeking re-election.
In Lewis Run, incumbent mayor Jason Campogiani, a Republican, is the lone candidate for the borough’s mayor. Democrat Steve Falconi and Republican Samuel Martin are seeking one of three seats on borough council.
Smethport Borough Mayor Wayne Foltz, a Republican, is seeking re-election. He was the only candidate to file for the ballot. Five Republicans will vie for four available seats on Smethport Borough Council. Candidates will be Kent Herzog, Gregory Rounsville, Christopher Hill, Ryan Herzog, and Jeffrey Tanner.
In Kane, incumbent mayor Brandy Schimp, a Republican, is the sole candidate on the ballot for mayor. Three Republicans filed petitions for the three open terms on council: Gary Schul, Charles Vassallo and Melanie Clabaugh.
No one is listed for seeking the position of mayor of Mount Jewett. Republicans Francis Auriemmo Jr. and Thomas Geer are seeking two of four open positions on borough council.
In Port Allegany, incumbent Mayor George Riley, a Republican, is the only candidate who filed for the ballot. Four positions are open on borough council, and three Republican candidates filed petitions: Jill Stuckey, David Fair and Andrew Johnson.
In Eldred Borough, incumbent Andrew Lathrop, a Republican, is running for re-election as mayor. Seeking two-year terms on Eldred Borough Council are William Bair Jr. and Patrick Walker, both Republicans. Joseph Scott Baker, a Democrat, is seeking a four-year term.
In Lafayette Township, Republican Michael Angello is the lone candidate for a six-year term as supervisor.
In Norwich Township, three candidates are seeking one open supervisor’s position. Republicans Aaron McKeirnan and Daniel Britton and Democrat Edward Hairston II will be on the ballot.
In Otto Township, Republican Eric Barton is the sole candidate for both a four-year and a two-year position of supervisor.
In Eldred Township, David Crowe, a Republican, is the sole candidate for supervisor.
In Hamlin Township, Republican candidates James Myers and Donald Compton are seeking one six-year term for supervisor.
In Keating Township, Democrat Robert Wheeler filed a petition for a six-year term as supervisor.
Patricia Miller, a Republican, is the lone candidate for Sergeant Township supervisor.
Two Republican candidates filed for the ballot for the position of Wetmore Township supervisor: Scott Austin and Ryan Wilson.
Four incumbent candidates are seeking the four open seats on Bradford Area School District board of directors: Hiel Bartlett, a Republican, and Frances Forbes, Helen Cummiskey Schuster and Shane Oschman, all of whom cross filed.
Five candidates are seeking four seats on Kane Area school board: Fred John Lorenzo IV, a Republican, and John Ball, Claire Ann Buckley, Amber Hancharick, and Linda Anderson, all of whom cross filed.
For Otto-Eldred School Board, Republican Jolene Schuessler is the lone candidate in Region I, Jeannine Dawn Gray, a Democrat, is the lone candidate in Region II and Lance E. Baker, a Republican, is the sole candidate for Region III.
Four candidates are seeking four positions on Port Allegany School Board: Nathan Burgett, who cross-filed, and Republicans Donald Tanner, Eric Button and Elizabeth Stauffer.
For Smethport Area School board, Daniel Wertz cross-filed for Region I, Kelly Okerlund and Marklyn Simms, both Republicans, filed for two ballot positions for Region II’s four-year terms. Heather McKean, a Republican, filed for a two-year term for Region II. David Stratton, a Republican, filed for Region III.
