Winter weather and a buildup of snow and ice resulted in several reminders issued during Monday’s meeting of the Foster Township supervisors.
Foster Township Supervisor Chairman George Hocker reminded residents to use caution when getting up on their roof to take care of snow or other concerns.
Road foreman Chad Babcock reminded residents that it is illegal to plow snow across the roadway. He noted that, while it is becoming an issue to find a place to put snow, plowing it across the road from residents’ driveways is causing an issue.
Police Chief Tom Munn also issued a reminder that parking on the roadway is not permitted. Parking tickets have been issued to residents who were parked entirely on the roadway. The issue, particularly in the Russell Boulevard, Wildwood and Woodlawn areas, is the ability for emergency services to respond. Residents are asked to shovel the berms and make sure vehicles are parked off the roadways, in order to allow a firetruck or other emergency vehicle to travel the road if necessary.
During the old business portion of the meeting, Supervisor Gus Crissman noted that a discussion in the fall with the Office of Economic and Community Development regarding connection of a water line to help with pressure and supply to the Lafferty Hollow Industrial Park has not seen any progress. Crissman noted the water issue is a concern in case of fire and suggested writing a letter to OECD officials regarding the matter.
Munn gave the Police Department report for February, explaining officers handled 164 complaints, including 11 motor-vehicle accidents and conducted nine criminal investigations. They issued 17 citations and patrolled a total of 4,798 miles.
Road crews patched potholes, maintained plow equipment and moved snow piles at various intersections in the township, in addition to plowing and sanding the roads 19 times.
At the beginning of the meeting, a moment of silence was held in memory of Bradford City Councilman Dan Palmer.
