The region saw just five new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
McKean County had two additional cases for 3,022 total — 2,279 confirmed and 743 probable with 9,606 negative tests. One additional case was in Bradford for 973 confirmed and 166 probable. It was not immediately clear where the other case was located.
Elk County had two additional cases for 2,308 total — 1,224 confirmed and 1,084 probable with 5,449 negative tests. Both additional cases were in St. Marys, where there were 550 confirmed and 470 probable.
There was no change in Potter County, which has had 912 cases.
Cameron County had one additional case for 257 total — 173 confirmed and 84 probable. The additional case was in Emporium, where there have been 151 confirmed and 72 probable cases.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Wednesday indicated there were 2,786 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 920,634.
As for vaccines, Elk County is still the leader locally, with 3,427 first doses and 3,600 second doses administered. McKean County reported 1,780 first doses and 1,914 second doses. Potter County reported 517 first and 454 second doses. Cameron County reported 869 first and 327 second doses.
As of Wednesday, there were 1,963 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 418 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. There was no change in the data since Tuesday. Locally, one patient is hospitalized for COVID-19 in Elk County, while there are none in McKean and Potter counties.
There were 76 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 23,787 deaths attributed to COVID-19. None were reported locally.
As for long-term care facilities, nine in McKean County reported 377 cases of COVID-19 among residents and 111 among staff, with 47 deaths. Three facilities in Elk County reported 122 cases among residents and 50 among staff, with 8 deaths. Three facilities in Potter County reported 45 cases among residents, 15 among staff and three deaths. And one facility in Cameron County reported 36 cases among residents, 10 among staff and two deaths.
