ONE LENS: A statewide virtual photo exhibit called One Lens: Sharing Our Common Views has been organized by the First Lady’s Office in partnership with the PA Council on the Arts, PA Historical and Museum Commission, and the PA Tourism Office. It celebrates the hard work and commitment of all Pennsylvanians as we continue our fight against COVID-19.
The website for the exhibit states, “Our sacrifice has been great, but our determination, grit, and love have been greater. The One Lens exhibit aims to capture Pennsylvanian’s legendary can-do spirit in action. Honoring our individual lived experiences by creating a visual record of our shared history during this most difficult time.”
The exhibit covers three themes: Our Heroes, paying homage to the pandemic heroes who cannot simply stay home; Our Lives, looking at how we spend our time when no one is watching; and Our Communities, showcasing Pennsylvanians uniting in the face of a global health crisis.
Submissions are open and will be accepted through March 8, 2021. They can be made through the website: https://www.pa.gov/one-lens/.
In order to be eligible to submit a photo, one must be a current resident of Pennsylvania, age 18 or older. Also, the content must have been captured during the COVID-19 pandemic (since March 2020).
When submitting a photo, one must include their name, phone number, email address and county of residence, as well as a brief caption for the photo. Any photo that includes someone under the age of 18 must also be accompanied by express written permission from the parent/guardian in order to be considered for inclusion.
There is an extensive list of prohibited themes, including profane or vulgar language, nudity, illegal activity, name calling or threats, hate speech, the promotion of a political organization, or other inappropriate content as deemed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There is no guarantee that photos will be featured in the exhibit. That determination will be made by the First Lady’s Office and the Pennsylvania Tourism Office.
