HARRISBURG — On Monday, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced the appointment of Chad McKenrick, former assistant manager of the Promised Land State Park Complex based in Pike County, to manage Sinnemahoning State Park, Cameron County.
“A veteran and former waterways conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Chad brings many skills to his latest assignment,” Dunn said. “Our many visitors to the most popular Sinnemahoning park and lake will profit from his management and public relations experience.”
At Sinnemahoning, McKenrick will oversee 1,910 acres of parkland in Cameron and Potter counties; a 145-acre reservoir created by the George B. Stevenson Dam, which provides excellent fishing and water recreation opportunities; and the Wildlife Center, all of which draw visitors into the Pennsylvania Wilds. The state park is one of 29 in the Wilds area, and part of its 2.1 million acres of public land.
“I believe that positive encounters with nature help create the passion to protect it,” McKenrick said. “Sinnemahoning State Park offers big opportunities to do just that.”
McKenrick replaces Tracy Zupich, who was assigned as manager of Little Pine State Park, Lycoming County. McKenrick began his Bureau of State Parks career in 2019 as a park manager trainee and later served interim manager at Black Moshannon State Park, Centre County, and assistant manager at the Promised Land State Park Complex.
A native of Clearfield and Jefferson counties, McKenrick attained the rank of sergeant in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and was activated for operations in Kosovo, Hurricane Katrina relief and Iraq.
Before joining the bureau, he worked for nine years with the Fish and Boat Commission, serving as waterways conservation officer in Susquehanna, Bradford, Clearfield, Jefferson, and Cameron counties.
A graduate of Penn State DuBois, McKenrick received a bachelor’s degree in earth science and an associate degree in wildlife technology.
He and his wife, Becky, are the parents of one daughter, Laken.
