The local area had 11 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
There were 2 more cases in McKean County for a total of 2,974 — 2,247 confirmed, 727 probable and 9,483 negative tests. New cases were listed in Smethport, which is up to 285 confirmed and 40 probable, and Port Allegany, which is up to 191 confirmed and 25 probable.
In Elk County, there were 6 more cases for a total of 2,273 — 1,213 confirmed, 1,060 probable and 5,364 negative tests. There are 3 new cases in St. Marys, for a total of 545 confirmed and 459 probable; 1 more in Ridgway, for 268 confirmed and 175 probable; and 1 more in Kersey for 83 confirmed and 104 probable. It is unclear where the sixth new case is located.
Potter County has 2 more cases for a total of 891 — 795 confirmed, 96 probable and 3,062 negative tests. There is one new case in Coudersport, which now has 328 confirmed and 38 probable, and one in Roulette, which has 53 confirmed cases and 1-4 probable cases.
In Cameron County, there is 1 additional case for a total of 253 — 171 confirmed, 82 probable and 928 negative tests. The new case is in Emporium, which now has 149 confirmed cases and 70 probable cases.
There are no new deaths in the local area.
There are 3 people each in McKean and Potter counties hospitalized with COVID-19, and 2 people hospitalized in Elk County. No COVID-19-related hospitalizations are reported in Cameron County.
Statewide, the Department of Health said there are 3,413 new positive cases on Wednesday, which brings the total to 902,650. There are 2,356 people hospitalized with the illness in Pennsylvania, and 491 of them are in the intensive care unit.
As of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, there were 193 new deaths in Pennsylvania, bringing the total to 23,319.
The department expects that by Saturday 183,575 first doses and 143,275 second doses of vaccine will have been allocated this week.
Of the 2,766,400 doses allocated through this coming Saturday, 1,749,949 — or 1,313,538 first doses and 436,411 second doses — have been administered.
The state’s nursing and personal care homes are reporting 65,713 resident cases and 12,729 employee cases. Out of the total reported deaths, 12,118 were residents of nursing homes or personal care facilities.
Health care workers account for about 24,257 of the total cases.
