Bradford City Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman Tuesday afternoon at 86 School St. — a house on the corner of School and North Center streets adjacent to School Street Elementary School.
Police Chief Mike Ward did not release the name of the woman, saying only that she was 25 years old.
The call was made at 2:05 p.m. for a disturbance at the School Street address, with McKean County 911 dispatch reporting that a gun could be involved, Ward said.
“Due to the close proximity to the School Street Elementary School the police requested the school to go into a shelter-in-place just to ensure the safety of all students and staff,” the chief explained.
Police declared the scene safe within minutes, and released the shelter order for the school.
“At this time it is an ongoing investigation so we can only confirm that City of Bradford Police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old female to rule out foul play,” Ward said. “The incident is isolated and there is no danger to the public.”
