RIDGWAY — Two people were injured — one suffering severe burns — in an early morning fire Wednesday in Ridgway Township.
According to Ridgway-based state police, a 66-year-old Ridgway woman was flown to UPMC for treatment of severe burns on her head, face and hands. A 63-year-old Ridgway man suffered light burns and smoke inhalation.
The names of the victims — the occupants of the home at the time of the fire — were not released.
Police said that at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Johnsonburg Volunteer Fire department was dispatched to 5835 Montmorenci Road, Ridgway, for a structure fire at a 40-by-30-foot one-story wood-frame home with pine tongue, groove siding, a loft and a basement.
The cause of the fire was accidental, police reported.
The home was a complete loss, and the total loss is estimated at $400,000, according to police.
