SMETHPORT — Alex Ognen scored a game-high 22 points, leading the Smethport boys basketball team to a 55-26 home victory over Galeton on Wednesday.
Ognen made eight field goals and went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line during the win, while Layne Shall finished with 13 points for the Hubbers (4-5).
Galeton (0-3) trailed by just eight points at halftime, before Smethport blew the game open in the second half, outscoring the Tigers, 23-2, during the third quarter.
Ty Stover and Gavin Sykora were Galeton’s leading scorers on the night, each finishing with eight points.

JOHNSONBURG — Three Johnsonburg players finished in double figures as the Rams throttled Austin at home.
Eric Christoff led Johnsonburg (5-2) with 15 points, followed by Cam Stelene, who had 14 and Gabe Watts, who tallied 13.
After jumping out to a 19-10 lead after the first, the Rams used a 12-2 run in the second quarter and a 16-7 run in the third to propel themselves to a blowout win.
Jackson Glover accounted for 22 of Austin’s (2-4) 27 points, knocking down five 3-pointers.

Port Allegany 58, Northern Potter 19
ULYSSES — Dylan Poorman and Ty Guilds combined for 26 points as Port Allegany earned its first victory of the season in blowout fashion.
Poorman tallied a game-high 16 points for the Gators (1-5), including two treys, while Guilds recorded 10 points, went 4-of-5 from the charity stripe and brought down seven boards.
Drew Evens and Kaleb Brilliant also had seven rebounds while the latter added five points for Port, while Noah Archer tallied seven steals on the defensive end.
“We played a strong four quarters of basketball, first time all season,” Port coach Kyle Babcock said. “We were able to rotate guys in and out and stay fresh. Tonight was a solid team effort.”
For Northern Potter (1-5), Anthony Benway and Tre Slawson each finished with five points while Michael Moore had four.
“NoPo is a scrappy team, but was missing a few key players,” Babcock said. “You hate to see that happen. Hopefully those guys can get back to being healthy.

JOHNSONBURG — After leading by just a point at halftime, the Lady Rams used a tough second half effort to earn their second win of the season.
Annasophia Stauffer was Johnsonburg’s leading scorer with 10 points, while Kaci Stelene recorded nine and Ella Lindberg finished with eight.
Johnsonburg (2-4) held Smethport to just one point in the third quarter before scoring 10 in the fourth, but the Lady Hubbers (1-10) weren’t able to rally for the win.
Coryn McClain was Smethport’s leading scorer, six of which came in the fourth quarter.
