There were 21 new cases in McKean County for a total of 2,700 — 2,010 confirmed, 690 probable and 8,955 negative tests.
Elk County had 18 new cases for a total of 2,121 — 1,148 confirmed, 973 probable and 5,015 negative tests.
There were two additional cases in Potter County for a total of 811 —715 confirmed, 96 probable and 2,866 negative tests.
There were two additional cases in Cameron County for 239 total — 162 confirmed, 77 probable and 867 negative tests.
As of Friday, there were 159 new deaths reported for a total of 21,462 deaths attributed to COVID-19. There were no new deaths reported in the region.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health stated on Friday that there were 9,643 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 834,048. That case counts today include backlogged antigen testing data from urgent care centers; 4,052 of the newly identified cases had their specimens collected over a week ago.
There were 16 additional COVID-19 cases in Bradford for 837 confirmed and 158 probable; Kane, 2 more, 277 confirmed, 73 probable; Eldred, 2 more, 117 confirmed, 19 probable; and Smethport, one more, 272 confirmed, 35 probable.
In Elk County, there were 10 more cases in St. Marys for 520 confirmed and 416 probable; Johnsonburg, 2 more, 117 confirmed, 70 probable; Ridgway, 2 more, 253 confirmed, 157 probable; Wilcox, 2 more, 28 confirmed, 32 probable; and 2 more in Kersey for 79 confirmed and 95 probable.
In Potter County, one new case is in Coudersport with 282 confirmed and 44 probable; and one is in Roulette, with 41 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable.
In Cameron County, the additional cases were in Emporium, where the totals are 141 confirmed cases and 66 probable.
According to the health department, in the state, there are 3,691 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 753 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. In McKean County, there were five patients hospitalized for COVID-19, two in intensive care; in Elk, one patient hospitalized; and in Potter, four hospitalized, one in intensive care.
In long-term care facilities, nine facilities in McKean County reported 358 COVID-19 cases among residents, 107 among staff and 46 deaths from the virus. Three facilities in Elk County reported 119 cases among residents, 50 among staff and seven deaths. Three facilities in Potter County reported 34 cases among residents, 15 among staff and two deaths. One facility in Cameron County reported 36 cases among residents, 10 among staff and two deaths.
Pennsylvania hospitals began receiving shipments of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 14 and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 21. Note that this does include vaccine administration through the CVS as part of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership.
There have been 1,603 vaccines administered for the first dose in McKean County, and 517 second doses. In Elk County, there have been 3,056 first doses and 858 second doses. In Potter County, there have been 281 first doses and 279 second doses. In Cameron County, there have been 370 first doses and 42 second doses.
