East Smethport man has been accused of purposely hitting another vehicle with his pick-up truck while he was driving under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Austin J.H. Tankersley, 27, of 51 Allen St., was arraigned Thursday before District Judge William Todd on charges of criminal trespass, a second-degree felony; criminal mischief, a second-degree misdemeanor; four counts of DUI-controlled substance, misdemeanors; disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, third-degree misdemeanors.
Tankersley also faces several summary charges: harassment, drivers required to be licensed, carrying and exhibiting driver’s license on demand, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, reckless driving and immediate notice of accident to police department, court records stated.
According to the criminal complaint, at 4:04 p.m. Sept. 26, Lewis Run-based state police were notified of a criminal mischief incident on Main Street in Eldred Borough. While troopers were on the way to the scene, they learned the alleged actor — Tankersley — had fled the scene and crashed his vehicle over an embankment by Main Street, Eldred Township.
He fled the crash scene on foot heading back toward Eldred Borough, where troopers located him, the complaint indicated.
Upon further investigation, troopers determined that Tankersley used a pick-up truck to intentionally damage a vehicle that was parked outside a woman’s residence. Also, he went to her home several times that day and was told multiple times he was not allowed there. At one point, Tankersley pushed the female and entered the home without permission, the complaint alleged.
Tankersley had a blood draw taken at Bradford Regional Medical Center that showed he had methamphetamine and marijuana in his system, according to court records.
Tankersley is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 8.

A Bradford man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly left a female threatening voicemails, then assaulted her.
Todd W. “Toad” Hale Jr., 29, of 2 Bushnell St., Apt. 519, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge.
The criminal complaint alleges that between Dec. 5-8, Hale left someone five voicemails with threats of violence toward her.
The voicemails included messages such as “Don’t make me come over there,” “You’re dead” and “Give me a call, have the cops on standby, I’m coming over, I don’t give a f***, better hope the cops get there before I get in,” the complaint stated.
On Dec. 19, Hale and two others were allegedly involved in a physical fight with the female. During the fight, Hale knocked the female to the ground and kicked her in the head and face while others punched her, according to court records.
She suffered swelling and bruising on her face and body, the complaint stated.
Bail was set at $500 unsecured, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10.
