Wednesday’s reporting from the Pennsylvania Department of Health showed 72 new cases of COVID-19 for the region.
There were 45 additional cases reported in McKean County for a total of 2,657 —1,976 confirmed and 681 probable. There were two additional deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total to 57.
There were 21 additional cases in Elk County for a total of 2,088 — 1,137 confirmed and 951 probable. There was one additional death, bringing the total to 33.
Potter County saw one additional case for a total of 807 — 712 confirmed and 95 probable. There have been 18 deaths.
In Cameron County, there were five additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 237 — 161 confirmed and 76 probable. There have been seven deaths.
As of Wednesday in Pennsylvania, there were 222 new deaths reported for a total of 21,105 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health indicated there were 5,874 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 818,369.
There were 31 additional cases in Bradford, for 813 confirmed and 156 probable; Lewis Run, 5 more, 89 confirmed, 326 probable; Kane, 4 more, 275 confirmed, 71 probable; Eldred, 1 more, 114 confirmed, 19 probable; Smethport, 1 more, 270 confirmed, 33 probable; Mount Jewett, 1 more, 44 confirmed, 13 probable. It was not immediately clear where the remaining cases were.
In Elk County, 10 more cases were listed in St. Marys, for 513 confirmed and 403 probable; Ridgway, 2 more, 251 confirmed, 154 probable; Johnsonburg, 3 more, 117 confirmed, 67 probable; Wilcox had 4 more, for 28 confirmed and 30 probable; and Weedville had 2 more for 61 confirmed and 37 probable.
There were five more cases in Cameron County, all in Emporium, for 140 confirmed and 64 probable.
Statewide, there are 3,790 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 760 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. In McKean County, six patients were hospitalized with COVID-19, two in intensive care. In Elk County, two patients were hospitalized. In Potter County, five were hospitalized.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 62,220 resident cases of COVID-19, and 11,788 cases among employees, for a total of 74,008 at 1,533 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of the total deaths, 10,287 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
McKean County had nine facilities reporting 351 cases among residents, 105 among staff and 30 deaths. Three facilities in Elk County reported 120 cases among residents, 49 among staff and seven deaths. In Potter County, three facilities reported 34 cases among residents and 15 among staff. In Cameron County, one facility reported 34 cases among residents, 9 among staff and one death.
