On Friday afternoon, Bradford Area School District Superintendent Katy Pude notified parents that over the past two weeks, four staff/students at Fretz Middle School have tested positive for COVID-19.
In accordance with the requirements outlined in the attestation agreement with the Department of Health and Department of Education, Fretz Middle School will be transitioning to remote learning on Monday.
Pude said the building will be thoroughly cleaned over the weekend and into Monday, with plans to return to in-person instruction on Tuesday.
“Please note this transition only applies to Fretz Middle School at this time; both elementary schools and Bradford Area High School will remain open unless additional cases are reported at those schools over the weekend,” she added.
Through contact tracing protocol, anyone who came in close contact with the individuals who tested positive have been notified. Those contacted will not return to the building until the required isolation/quarantine is over.
Pude urged parents to continue to be on the lookout for primary symptoms of COVID-19, including shortness of breath, coughing, fever or chills and loss of taste or smell. Other symptoms include congestion, sore throat, diarrhea, abdominal pain and body aches.
“If you or your child begins to experience symptoms, please consult a healthcare provider and notify the office,” she said.
