SMETHPORT — An Emporium woman pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to allegations she entered a home and caused thousands of dollars in damage.
Sarah A. Norton, 24, entered the plea to charges of criminal trespass and criminal mischief. On Sept. 27, Norton entered a Broad Street home in Port Allegany and caused more than $5,000 in damage to items including a laptop, a dresser mirror, walls, a gas grill and more, according to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade.
Norton will be sentenced March 18.
Also in court, Seth A. James, 23, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, DUI-controlled substance and a summary charge. According to Shade, on Oct. 13, James, who did not have a license to carry a firearm, had a firearm concealed in his vehicle; also, he was driving under the influence of marijuana. He will be sentenced March 4.
Krichtain E. Swanson, 22, of Sheffield, pleaded guilty to a charge of firearm not to be carried without a license. On July 12 in Kane, Swanson, who was eligible for a license to possess a firearm but did not have a license, carried a firearm and ammunition in a vehicle, according to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. Swanson will be sentenced March 4.
Robert W.W. Gault, 33, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. On Sept. 30, Gault struck a female and shoved her against a wall, causing her lip to bleed and minor swelling, Shade said. He will be sentenced March 4.
Jessica L. Weikel, 32, of Smethport, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. On Oct. 19, Weikel, while an inmate at the McKean County Jail, attempted to cause or caused injury to another inmate, Shaffer said. Weikel will be sentenced Feb. 1.
Ray P. Ross, 37, of Clearfield, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft. Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy said that on Dec. 13, 2019, Ross caused to be carried away from Walmart about $1,384 worth of items including clothing, tools, pens and other miscellaneous items. Ross will be sentenced March 4.
Joshua M. Elliott, 35, of Eldred, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft. According to Murphy, on Sept. 7 Elliott took food items valued at about $270 from Walmart. He will be sentenced March 4.
The following people were accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program: Jace A. Noble, 19, of New Cumberland, for DUI-controlled substance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; Lane Hillard, 19, of Kane, for DUI-controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Taylor D. Jerge, 20, of Olean, N.Y., for DUI-general impairment.
