Wednesday’s reporting showed 44 new cases of COVID-19 in the region, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
There were 18 additional cases of COVID-19 in McKean County in Wednesday’s reporting — 1,832 confirmed, 500 probable, 8,537 negative tests and 50 deaths.
There were 13 additional cases in Elk County for a total of 1,996 — 1,105 confirmed, 891 probable, 4,852 negative tests and a total of 29 deaths.
There were eight more cases in Potter County for a total of 782 — 682 confirmed, 100 probable, 2,784 negative tests and a total of 17 deaths.
In Cameron County, there were five more cases for a total of 221 — 155 confirmed, 66 probable, 833 negative tests and a total of six deaths. There were 401 new deaths reported in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, for a statewide total of 19,868.
Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 5,984 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 783,170.
Bradford had two more cases, 731 confirmed and 142 probable; Smethport, two more, 252 confirmed, 32 probable; Kane had 8 more, 267 confirmed, 67 probable; Lewis Run, one more, 85 confirmed, 169 probable; Eldred, one more, 102 confirmed, 17 probable; Port Allegany, 2 more, 161 confirmed, 14 probable; Mount Jewett, one more, 41 confirmed, 12 probable; and Rixford, one more, 28 confirmed, 5 probable.
In Elk County, 5 more cases were in St. Marys, for 498 confirmed and 378 probable; Johnsonburg’s case numbers changed, with one additional case and a few confirmed cases moving to probable cases instead, for a total of 114 confirmed and 58 probable; and Ridgway’s case count changed as well, with 247 confirmed and 144 probable. Wilcox showed one additional case, for 26 confirmed and 25 probable. Three more cases were listed in Brockport, for 44 confirmed and 26 probable.
In Potter County, two more cases were added in Coudersport for 268 confirmed and 49 probable; Shinglehouse had two more for 116 confirmed and 20 probable; Genessee, one more, 55 confirmed; and Galeton, 3 more, 60 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable.
And in Cameron County, all the additional cases were in Emporium, where the case counts were 136 confirmed and 54 probable.
As of Wednesday, there were 4,593 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, 918 in intensive care. In McKean County, 5 people were hospitalized with COVID-19; in Elk County, 4; and in Potter County, 8 people were hospitalized, one in intensive care.
In nursing and personal care homes, there were 60,319 resident cases of COVID-19, and 11,267 cases among employees, for a total of 71,586 at 1,523 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of the total deaths, 10,112 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
McKean County had 9 facilities report 341 cases among residents, 94 among staff and 30 deaths from COVID-19. Elk County had 3 facilities report 111 cases among residents, 47 among staff and 7 deaths. Two facilities in Potter County reported 33 cases among residents and 15 among staff. And one facility in Cameron County had 33 cases among residents, 9 among staff and one death.
