The region saw a drop in percent positivity for all four counties, according to COVID-19 data released Monday.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health’s dashboard reports that the state of Pennsylvania has a percent positivity rate of 12.7%, down from 14.4% last week. The rate is for cases reported during the seven-day period from Jan. 8 to 14.
Locally, Elk County’s percent positivity rate has dropped below the state average, while all four counties reported a decrease from the previous seven-day period report.
Elk County currently has a 9.0% percent positivity rate, compared to 16.7% reported for the previous seven-day period.
McKean County’s rate is 13.4%, down from 16.6%, while Cameron County’s rate is 18.6% (down from 21.7%) and Potter County’s rate of percent positivity is at 15.6%, down from 16.1%.
The number of cases reported for Potter County is down 24 from last week, while the cases reported in McKean County were 87 less than last week. Elk County had 44 fewer cases reported, while Cameron County’s case total for the week is seven less than the week before.
Currently, the state of Pennsylvania has reported a decrease in hospitalizations, with 377.5 fewer reported than in the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily ventilator use has decreased 24.8% and there were 3,833 more cases reported last week, compared to this week’s totals.
