The MJ2KB Trail Club’s big project this year will be re-surfacing the section of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail from Mount Jewett to U.S. Route 219, funded by a grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
“Once this is completed, our (approx.) 8 miles of trail will exceed all expectations for not just a beautiful trail, but an incredibly diverse trail for all trail users. And, once we are rid of this COVID-19 virus, we can hold events again on the trail to involve the community and people of all ages,” said MJ2KB President Carolyn Stroup.
The Wolf Creek Race Management group is planning to hold its 10K & Half Marathon races on the trail at the end of July, and club members hope to see other events as well.
This month, the club needs to assemble names of any members who are willing to serve as a director for the trail club’s board for the next two years. The club needs seven board members, with four being officers.
The officer positions are president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. Stroup needs to receive names of potential board members/officers by Jan. 31, so they can be placed on a ballot and voted on next month. Board members must have paid memberships at the time of taking office.
At this time, there is no scheduled meeting in January. The club will hold elections in February, either at a meeting or by email or mail-in.
