SMETHPORT — Smethport Borough Council on Monday ratified a one-year contract with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1319.
Under the terms of the agreement, the three employees will receive a two percent raise in wages. Smethhport is one of a small number of communities in the state that owns its own electric department.
Fire Chief Eric Barber, who attended the meeting, gave council an updated list of the department’s officers for 2021 and discussed the status of hydrants in the borough.
Council OKd the following reappointments:
*Melody DeLuca, secretary-treasurer;
*Erik Ross, solicitor;
*Barbara Peterson, LST tax collector;
*Berkheimer Tax Administrator: wage tax collection;
*Hamlin Bank, depository;
*Sue Jordan, TCC delegate until she retires in March;
*Mary Jo Kreiner, alternate TCC delegate;
*Josh Costa and Jim Clark, Smethport Borough Authority, five-year terms;
Eric Holmberg was apppointed to the SBA for three years, replacing Dave Seipp.
Council discussed the drainage project on Bank to Willow streets and Center to Willow streets. Council President Greg Rounsville said that work could begin if there is a break in the weather. Otherwise, the project would be delayed until spring.
Council agreed to retain their schedule of public meetings, which will be held at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month, unless otherwise advertised.
Rounsville will announce council’s committee assignments in the near future.
Council met in an executive session to discuss personnel.
