LOOKING FOR HELP: Candice Snyder of North Carolina has an interesting request. We hope that our readers might be able to help.
Snyder writes, “My mother in law and father in law met at The Town Bar around 1948. I’d love to have photos of the bar for my husband.
His father passed away in 1991 and his mom is 87 yrs old. I’d also love to get my hands on historic photos from that time and maybe even an engagement clipping for his parents. I live in NC and have conducted an extensive online search. I’ve reached out to the Bradford Historical Society. Do you have ideas of where else I could find this info?”
We can only ask our readers and see if anyone has photos they would be willing to share. Please feel free to contact The Era if you can help by calling the newsroom, 362-6531, or emailing news@bradfordera.com. We will pass the info along.

NATIONAL BIRD DAY: Intended to raise public awareness of the plight of birds, National Bird Day is celebrated on Jan. 5 each year. The holiday, which was founded in 2002, provides the opportunity to highlight disease, the illegal pet trade and other factors that put birds in danger.
Loss of habitat is another issue numerous bird species face in today’s world.
Birds are often a keystone species in ecosystems. For example, the holes left behind by woodpeckers are often used as homes for a large variety of other animals. That means if woodpeckers were to run out of a food source – or out of the right kinds of trees – so, too, would all the animals that depend on their pecking skills.
Today is also National Keto Day and National Whipped Cream Day. Celebrate whichever you prefer, or both if you can fit that into your new year’s resolutions.
