While Monday’s data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health shows only a few more positive cases of COVID-19, it isn’t a cause for celebration. The lower numbers were due to technical maintenance on the data server.
On Monday, the data showed McKean County had 7 more cases of COVID-19 for a total of 1,836; Elk, 5 more cases for 1,520 total; Cameron, 2 more cases for 161 and Potter had no change.
Statewide, the health department reported an additional 7,805 positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 665,097. “The case counts today are atypically low as a result of technical maintenance to the data server on Sunday,” health department officials noted.
As of Monday, there were 5,529 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, near double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,149 patients were in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
In McKean County, there were 13 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, 2 in intensive care and one on a ventilator. In Elk County, there were 2 patients hospitalized, and in Potter County, 6 patients hospitalized, 2 in intensive care.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 54,465 resident cases of COVID-19, and 9,827 cases among employees, for a total of 64,292 at 1,479 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of our total deaths, 9,023 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
In McKean County, 9 facilities reported 260 cases among residents, 53 among staff and 22 deaths. In Elk County, 3 facilities reported 104 cases among residents, 39 among staff and 6 deaths. In Potter County, 2 facilities reported 22 cases among residents and 13 among staff. In Cameron County, 1 facility reported 25 cases among staff, 6 among residents and 1 death.
According to the vaccine dashboard, as of Monday, there have been 463 partial doses of vaccine administered in McKean County; 558 in Elk; 184 in Potter; and 36 in Cameron.
