A Port Allegany man, accused of trying to run another vehicle off the road, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge William Todd.
Seth D. Howard, 31, of 2157 Two Mile Road, Port Allegany, is charged with stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary counts of harassment and disorderly conduct.
The criminal complaint alleges that at 4:18 p.m. Nov. 13, Lewis Run-based state police were dispatched to the area of routes 59 and 646 for a report that someone pulled a gun on Howard.
A trooper met with Howard on Route 59, just east of its intersection with Route 646, where Howard described a vehicle with people in it who allegedly pulled a handgun on him, court records stated.
According to the complaint, the trooper tracked the vehicle down on U.S. Route 6 at its intersection with Jane Ware Road and pulled it over, and all four occupants were detained for questioning.
In talking with the vehicle’s occupants, police learned that Howard had approached the vehicle at the Pump House in Smethport and yelled at one of people inside — Tannar Orndoff, and he followed them in his own vehicle and tried to run them off the road on Route 59, the complaint alleged.
A press release issued by state police in November indicated that the handgun was pulled on Howard in self-defense. As of press time Tuesday, it does not appear that anyone was charged in the above alleged incident.
Howard was released on $7,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 11.
The complaint noted that two of the other occupants of the vehicle Howard allegedly tried to run off the road — Brandon Hostler and Craig Hostler — had warrants for their arrest at the time.
The complaint did not say what the warrants were for; however, court records indicate both had active cases against them in Pennsylvania. Court records show that Craig Hostler pleaded guilty Nov. 25 in Potter County in two cases to felony charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance; sentencing is set for Jan. 20. Meanwhile, Brandon Hostler is scheduled for a court appearance in McKean County on Jan. 21 for a misdemeanor charge of possession of contraband that is not a controlled substance.
