CASA of McKean County recently was awarded a community grant for $750 from the Walmart Foundation.
These funds will be used to recruit and train community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. CASA of McKean County was recommended by the Bradford Walmart manager, Sharon Yost to receive the grant.
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), volunteers receive in-depth training to advocate in court and in the community for the needs of children in foster care. A CASA volunteer gathers fact-based information about the child and the child’s circumstances. These findings and recommendations are put in a court report that is shared with the presiding judge to aid with making decisions in the best interest for the children.
