Thursday’s virus case count in the region jumped by nearly 100 cases, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
McKean County had an additional 51 cases for 1,187 total, and 11 total deaths; Elk, an additional 29 cases for 967, and 13 total deaths; Potter, an additional 13 cases for 461, and 10 deaths; and Cameron, an additional 6 cases, bringing the county’s total case count over 100 for a total of 104, and a total of 2 deaths. Cameron County still has the lowest case count in the state.
In Bradford, there were 20 additional cases for 376 confirmed and 104 probable; Lewis Run, 1 more case for 33 confirmed and 148 probable; in Kane, there were 16 more cases for 147 confirmed and 21 probable; Smethport, 4 more cases for 86 confirmed and 8 probable; Port Allegany, 2 more cases to 74 confirmed and 10 probable; Eldred, at least 5 additional cases for 49 confirmed and 5 probable; Turtlepoint, 1 more case for 10 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; and Cyclone, 1 more for 7 confirmed and 6 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 6 additional cases for 331 confirmed and 76 probable; Ridgway had 4 more cases for 122 confirmed and 29 probable; Johnsonburg had 4 more cases for 72 confirmed and 23 probable; and Kersey had 5 more cases for 46 confirmed and 16 probable.
In Potter County, in Coudersport, there were 5 more cases for 182 confirmed and 26 probable; Shinglehouse had 1 more case for 36 confirmed and 8 probable; Roulette, 3 more cases for 22 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Austin, 4 more for 21 confirmed and 6 probable; Galeton, 1 more for 42 confirmed; and Harrison Valley, at least 2 more for 16 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Cameron County, Emporium had 3 more cases for 65 confirmed and 25 probable; Driftwood had 5 confirmed and Sinnamohoning had 1 to 4 confirmed cases.
In the state, there were 9,966 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 529,335. There are 6,346 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,238 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
In Elk County, 6 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19; in McKean, 11 patients, 1 in intensive care; and in Potter, 8 patients, 1 in intensive care.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 45,858 resident cases of COVID-19, and 8,411 cases among employees, for a total of 54,269 at 1,418 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of our total deaths, 7,871 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
In McKean County, 8 facilities have reported 169 cases among residents, 31 among staff and 6 deaths. In Elk County, 3 facilities have reported 94 cases among residents, 34 among staff and 4 deaths. In Potter County, 2 facilities have reported 20 cases among residents and 8 among staff.
