The Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce is starting a promotion to support local restaurants and small businesses during this shutdown period.
“It is important that we keep our small businesses afloat during this challenging time,” said Chamber Executive Director Heidi Scrivo Passmore.
The promotion will run until Jan. 4. Anyone who shops at a participating business will receive an entry ticket for each purchase. Participants are asked to write their name and phone number on the ticket. Chamber staff will collect the tickets from each business after Jan. 4 and draw five winners on Facebook Live on Jan. 8.
The grand prize winner will receive $250, while second place will receive $100 and three winners will receive $50.
Gift card purchases are also eligible purchases to receive an entry.
“The Chamber was challenged with finding a way to support our local businesses during the shutdown. But, we had to find something that we could put together quickly and would have an impact,” said Passmore. “When you are finishing up your Christmas Shopping you can purchase a gift at a local business and enter to win money. That is a win-win. This promotion extends after Christmas, when you can spend those gift certificates.”
Passmore also reminded area residents to consider purchasing gift cards, which can really help businesses, particularly those who are only able to provide takeout at this time.
The Chamber has also started a Facebook Group called Keep the Cheer Here. We invite anyone who uses Facebook to join our group, especially the local restaurants and businesses. This will make it easy for local community members to choose their dinner choice for the night. “The Chamber has worked hard to find creative ways to support our members. We are very thankful to the Bradford Community who have continued to show strong support to our Bradford Community” stated Susan Hughes, President of the Board of Directors of Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce.
