State Street in Bradford was closed for several hours Wednesday morning while police officers from multiple departments handled a mental health crisis there.
In the early morning hours on Wednesday, City of Bradford Police responded to a home on State Street for a report of a male having a mental health crisis, police said in a statement on Facebook.
“Police were able to safely extricate the other family members from the residence,” the statement read. “Police then were able to engage in conversation with the male for several hours and safely remove the weapon from the male de-escalating the situation.”
Bradford City Police were assisted on scene by Bradford Township Police, state police, McKean County 911 Dispatch and Foster Township Police.
Bradford City Chief Mike Ward told The Era that charges will not be filed and that the male did not threaten to harm anyone but himself.
