Wednesday’s reporting showed 127 new cases of COVID-19 in the region, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Cameron County went up by 28 cases to 98 total — with 72 confirmed and 26 probable. There have been 696 negative tests.
Elk County went up by 48 cases to 938 total — 676 confirmed and 262 probable. There have been 4,311 negative tests.
McKean County went up by 39 cases to 1,136 total — 810 confirmed and 326 probable. There have been 7,315 negative tests.
Potter County went up by 12 cases to 448 total — 399 confirmed and 49 probable. There have been 2,198 negative tests.
The number of deaths in the region rose as well. McKean and Potter each report 10 deaths, Elk, 13 and Cameron, 2.
In Pennsylvania, there were 10,049 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 519,369
In Bradford, there were 19 additional cases for 355 confirmed and 105 probable; in Kane, 10 more cases for 126 confirmed and 26 probable; Port Allegany had 1 more case for 72 confirmed and 10 probable; Eldred had at least 3 more for 45 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Gifford had at least 4 more cases for 9 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Cyclone, at least 1 more for 7 confirmed and 5 probable cases; and Mount Jewett, at least 1 more case for 21 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 13 more cases for 328 confirmed and 63 probable; Ridgway had 11 more cases for 120 confirmed and 27 probable; Johnsonburg had 3 more cases for 71 confirmed and 20 probable; Wilcox, 1 more case for 22 confirmed and 10 probable; Brockport had 2 more cases for 29 confirmed and 13 probable; Kersey had 6 more cases for 43 confirmed and 14 probable; and Weedville had 1 more case for 36 confirmed and 11 probable.
In Potter County, in Coudersport, 4 more cases for 178 confirmed and 25 probable; Austin, at least 1 more for 19 confirmed and 5 probable; Galeton, 2 more for 41 confirmed; Ulysses had 3 more for 39 confirmed; Genesee had 2 more cases for 38 confirmed; and Harrison Valley had at least 1 more case for 14 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Cameron County, Emporium had 28 additional cases for 64 confirmed and 22 probable.
There are 6,295 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,264 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19, the health department noted.
In Elk County, there were 6 patients hospitalized; in McKean, 10 hospitalized, 1 in intensive care; and in Potter, 12 hospitalized, 1 in intensive care.
In the state, there were 278 new deaths reported for a total of 13,168 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 45,287 resident cases of COVID-19, and 8,306 cases among employees, for a total of 53,593 at 1,417 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of the total deaths, 7,559 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
The number of cases in regional long-term care facilities has been rising as well. In McKean County, 8 facilities have reported 152 cases among residents, 30 among staff and 3 deaths. In Elk County, 3 facilities have reported 94 cases among residents, 34 among staff and 4 deaths. In Potter County, 2 facilities have reported 19 cases among residents and 8 among staff. And in Cameron County, 2 facilities have reported 13 cases among residents, 2 among staff and 1 death.
