Each local county saw more cases of COVID-19 in Wednesday’s reporting as the case count in the state has reached 445,317.
McKean County’s case count rose by 35 to 894. Elk County’s rose by 26 to 746. Potter County’s rose by 12 cases to 372, and Cameron County’s rose by 5 to 42.
Several more deaths were reported as of Wednesday as well, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Elk County has had 9 deaths, Potter County has had 7, McKean County, 5, and Cameron County is up to 2.
In Bradford, there were 7 more cases for 274 confirmed and 80 probable; Lewis Run, 16 more cases for 26 confirmed and 148 probable; Smethport had 4 more cases for 66 confirmed and 6 probable; Port Allegany had 3 more cases for 51 confirmed and 9 probable; Eldred had at least 2 more cases for 31 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Turtlepoint at least 1 more for 8 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; and Mount Jewett, at least 1 more for 18 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 4 more cases for 266 confirmed and 44 probable; Ridgway had 6 more cases for 92 and 19; Johnsonburg had 1 more case for 60 confirmed and 17 probable; Kersey had 2 more cases for 30 confirmed and 11 probable; Weedville had 2 more cases for 30 confirmed and 6 probable; and for the first time, James City is reporting at least one case, with 1 to 4 confirmed.
In Potter County, Coudersport has 13 more cases with 153 confirmed and 23 probable; Roulette has at least 1 more case for 15 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Austin had at least 1 more case for 14 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Galeton had 1 more case for 34 confirmed; Ulysses had 1 more for 27 confirmed; and Genesee had 1 more case for 35 confirmed.
In Cameron County, Emporium had 32 confirmed and 5 probable; Driftwood, 1 to 4 confirmed; and Sinnemahoning, 1 to 4 confirmed.
As for long-term care facilities, Elk County has 3 facilities with 92 cases among residents, 34 cases among staff and 4 deaths; McKean County, 8 facilities with 109 cases among residents, 25 cases among staff and 2 deaths; Potter County, 2 facilities with 16 cases among residents and 8 among staff; and Cameron County reported a single facility had 2 residents with COVID-19.
As for hospitalizations due to COVID-19, Elk County had 3 as of Wednesday; Potter County had 15 hospitalized, one of whom was in intensive care; and McKean County had 3 hospitalized, all of whom were in intensive care. There was no explanation offered as to why McKean County’s data on Tuesday indicated 35 patients in intensive care.
A spokesperson for Bradford Regional Medical Center said there were 8 COVID-19 cases at the hospital as of Wednesday, 2 in intensive care and 6 in the medical unit. One patient was under investigation, and 5 patients were tested, but were negative.
Statewide, there were 5,561 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,160 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
