The number of COVID-19 cases in the region rose again with Tuesday’s reporting by more than 110 cases.
According to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, McKean County had 59 more cases for 859 total; Elk County had 34 additional cases for 720 total; Potter County had 14 additional cases for 360 in total; and Cameron County had 5 additional cases for 37 total.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health indicated Tuesday that there were 10,170 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 436,614.
In Bradford, there were 24 additional cases for 268 confirmed and 79 probable; Lewis Run had 6 additional cases for 25 confirmed and 133 probable; Kane had 13 additional cases for 86 confirmed and 11 probable; Smethport had 7 additional cases for 62 confirmed and 6 probable; Port Allegany had 6 additional cases for 49 confirmed and 8 probable; Eldred had at least 1 more case for 29 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; and Mount Jewett had at least 1 more case with 17 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 14 more cases for 263 confirmed and 43 probable; Ridgway had 11 additional cases for 87 confirmed and 18 probable; Johnsonburg had 3 more cases for 60 confirmed and 16 probable; Kersey had 1 more case for 29 confirmed and 10 probable; and Brockport had 3 more cases for 23 confirmed and 9 probable.
In Potter County, Coudersport had 5 additional cases for 145 confirmed and 23 probable; Genesee, 1 additional case for 34 confirmed; Galeton, 1 more case for 33 confirmed; Ulysses, 3 more cases for 26 confirmed; Roulette, at least 1 more for 15 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Austin, at least 2 more cases for 13 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Cameron County, all 5 additional cases are in Emporium, where the totals are 30 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
As for hospitalizations, the health department indicated that in McKean County, there were 14 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, yet 35 patients were listed in intensive care. According to Bradford Regional Medical Center, as of Tuesday at 1 p.m., there were 11 confirmed cases at the hospital, 2 in intensive care and 9 in the medical unit; 2 patients that were under investigation, and 5 patients who were tested but are negative.
In Elk County, there were 5 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, according to the health department’s data. In Potter County, 17 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 1 in intensive care.
Statewide, there were 5,421 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,115 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
The trend in the 14-day moving average of the number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 4,200 since the end of September.
As of 11:59 p.m. Monday, there were 169 new deaths reported for a total of 11,542 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
As for long-term care facilities, in Elk County, 3 facilities have had 91 COVID-19 cases among residents, 34 among staff and 3 deaths; in McKean County, 8 facilities have had 108 cases among residents, 24 among staff and 1 death; and in Potter County, 2 facilities have had 16 cases among residents and 8 among staff.
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
