EMPORIUM — With Christmas just around the corner, and the new year approaching, the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library wants to update patrons on its latest fundraisers, programs and services.
The library is currently raising funds for its Holiday Book Gifting program. There are many requests for books pouring in, so donations for this program are much needed. Individuals or businesses can purchase an “ornament” for $2, $5, $10 or $20, and all of the money goes towards purchasing as many books as possible to fill the Book Gifting requests. The more donations, the more children we can get books to this holiday season.
The Friends of the Library have two holiday fundraisers going on right now. The first is a basket raffle for one of two themed children’s baskets. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. The drawing for these baskets will be held Dec. 18 at the end of the business day.
The second fundraiser is the “Donate and Say ‘Happy Holidays’” fundraiser. The deadline to submit a donation to wish one’s family and friends through this program is also Dec. 18.
Also through the month of December, the library has bundles of antique books for sale, ranging in publication date from the 1800s to 1960s. These books have not been valued, but all bundles are $5-$15 or best offer, so there’s a very good chance of finding a valuable first edition in the mix.
The library still offers Curbside Pickup services (Library-2-Go-Go), computer access, free Wi-Fi inside and outside of the building, online storytime and laminating services, in addition to its regular library access.
Mask wearing is mandatory at all times while inside the library building.
