In a letter released to parents Friday, Otto-Eldred School District Superintendent Matthew Splain said Otto-Eldred Junior Senior High School will return to full in-person instruction next week.
Earlier this week, the district received confirmation of a suspected positive case of COVID-19 in a staff member at the high school, though due to the timing of the onset of symptoms, remote learning currently taking place and previous precautionary efforts, there were no close contacts to notify.
Splain also noted that the district will continue to support students and families with remote learning options due to specific needs and quarantine requirements.
“We will be tracking any positive cases in our buildings carefully and respond according to the matrix established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health,” Splain said.
He urged families to take necessary precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the school community, including wearing masks, maintaining a physical distance of at least 6 feet from any person outside of the home, avoiding sharing food, drinks or utensils, staying home when they are sick, washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes. Additionally, Splain asked parents to cooperate with monitoring and follow all instructions if contacted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health or local health department.
“If you or any members of your household develop symptoms of COVID-19 or have symptoms that worsen, notify your local health department or the Pennsylvania Department of Health immediately at 1-877-724-3258 and contact a healthcare provider,” he said. “Additionally, please contact (the school nurse) or either building office at 814-817-1380.”
