The region’s virus case count rose by more than 4 dozen with Thursday’s reporting.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Potter County was up by 29 cases to 307, with 1,924 negative tests and 6 deaths. Elk County was up by 11 cases to 593, with 3,996 negative tests and 7 deaths. McKean County was up by 10 cases to 535, with 6,756 negative tests and 4 deaths. And Cameron County was up by 1 to 30 cases with 643 negative tests.
In McKean County, Bradford had 2 additional cases for 221 confirmed and 25 probable; Kane had 2 more cases for 57 confirmed and 9 probable; Smethport had 2 more cases for 48 and 5; and Port Allegany had at least 4 more cases for 39 confirmed and 5 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 5 more cases for 247 confirmed and 26 probable; Johnsonburg had 2 more for 56 confirmed and 14 probable; Ridgway had 3 more cases for 71 confirmed and 15 probable; and Sigel had 1 more case for 8 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Potter County, Coudersport had 22 additional cases for 122 confirmed and 21 probable; Shinglehouse had 2 more cases for 32 confirmed and 5 probable; Galeton had 2 more cases for 31 confirmed; and Genesee had 1 more case for 31 confirmed.
In Cameron County, 1 additional case was reported in Emporium for 23 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
Statewide, there were 11,406 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 386,837. This is the highest daily increase of COVID-19 cases.
There are 4,982 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,048 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
The trend in the 14-day moving average of the number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 3,500 since the end of September.
As of Thursday, Elk County had 5 patients hospitalized; McKean had 4 hospitalized, 1 in intensive care; and Potter County had 13 hospitalized, 3 in intensive care.
The impacts of COVID-19 are being seen more in the region’s long-term care facilities than it had been in the spring. As of Thursday, Elk County had 3 facilities with 89 residents and 34 staff impacted, and 3 deaths. McKean County had 8 facilities, 55 residents and 22 staff impacted, with 1 death. Potter County had 2 facilities with 14 residents and 6 staff impacted.
