McKean County’s case count of COVID-19 shot up by 34 cases with Tuesday’s reporting period, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Elk County’s case count increased by 12 to 557, Potter County’s by 10 to 229, and Cameron County’s by 1 to 27.
In the state, there were 5,676 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 367,140.
In Potter County, the health department reported 2 additional deaths, for a total of 5. Elk County has had 6, and McKean County, 4.
In McKean County, Bradford’s case count increased by 23 to 216 confirmed cases and 24 probable cases; Kane’s increased by 4 cases to 54 confirmed and 7 probable; Smethport had 3 additional cases for 45 confirmed and 5 probable; Port Allegany, 1 more case for 32 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 4 additional cases for 238 confirmed and 25 probable; Benezette had 1 additional case for 7 confirmed; Ridgway had 6 more cases for 66 confirmed and 15 probable.
In Potter County, Coudersport had 5 more cases for 82 confirmed and 15 probable; Shinglehouse showed 1 more case for 30 confirmed and 5 probable; Roulette showed 1 more case for 11 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Harrison Valley had 1 more case for 8 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; and Genesee had 1 more case for 25 confirmed.
In Elk County, there are 5 patients hospitalized with COVID-19; in McKean County, 4 are hospitalized, 2 in intensive care and 1 on a ventilator; and in Potter County, 6 are hospitalized, 2 in intensive care.
Statewide, there are 4,631 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 970 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
The health department updated COVID-19 numbers for long-term care facilities as well. In 2 facilities in Elk County, 91 residents and 31 staff have been affected. In McKean County, in 7 facilities, there have been 49 residents and 18 staff affected. In Potter County, in 2 facilities, there have been 5 residents and 6 staff affected.
There are 18 counties in the state that have fewer than 1,000 cases of COVID-19: Cameron, 27; Sullivan, 68; Forest, 101; Potter, 229; Fulton, 298; Warren, 303; Wyoming, 470; Montour, 476; McKean, 511; Elk, 557; Wayne, 569; Susquehanna, 628; Perry, 686; Juniata, 745; Greene, 762; Clinton, 775; Jefferson, 849; and Pike, 867.
There are 39 counties with more than 1,000 and less than 10,000 cases.
