Passenger in police chase facing
drug charges
A Bradford man who was a passenger in a vehicle that allegedly fled from police in September is facing drug charges from the incident.
Tylor L. Johnson, 18, of 18 S. Center St., was arraigned Monday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on two counts of possession of an instrument of crime, first-degree misdemeanors, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
The criminal complaint states that on the afternoon of Sept. 23, a Bradford City Police officer tried to pull over Rachel Anderson, 25, for allegations that she had absconded from Pennsylvania State Parole; Johnson was in the passenger seat of the vehicle Anderson was driving.
The officer began to approach the vehicle at the intersection of Burnside and Welsh avenues, Bradford City ,and he told Anderson to shut the car off. Instead, she sped off at a high rate of speed, according to the complaint. She allegedly led law enforcement on a high speed chase until she spun out into a ditch on Lafferty Hollow in Foster Township.
In a subsequent search of the car, police found Johnson to be in possession of a plastic bag containing methamphetamine and a backpack that contained “8ball” unused plastic bags, a clear unused plastic bag and two scales with drug residue, court records stated.
Also, Anderson was found to be in possession of oxycodone hydrochloride pills and drug paraphernalia, the complaint stated.
Johnson was released on $2,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 2.
Anderson, who has been incarcerated since the alleged incident, has a last day to plea in McKean County Court scheduled for Dec. 3.
