SMETHPORT — A Bradford man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison after being convicted of simple at trial.
Robert K. Pierce, 29, will serve nine months to two years in state prison with credit for one day of time served for charges of simple assault and a summary charge. At a jury trial on Oct. 27, Pierce was found guilty of two counts of simple assault and a summary charge. District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer explained at the sentencing hearing that Pierce bit a female in the stomach and dragged her to another room.
Also in court, Marvin R. Baskerville, 53, of Bradford, was sentenced to eight months to two years in state prison with credit for 157 days of time served for a charge of simple assault. On Oct. 29, Baskerville pleaded guilty to allegations that on March 31, during a dispute with a female, he put the female in fear of injury by putting his hand over her mouth and pulling her hair.
Allan E. Huff, 53, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to three counts of theft by deception. According to Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy, between Feb. 1, 2016, and April 16, 2018, Huff offered to prepare another man’s taxes for three years, then withheld taxes from each of those years: $641 from the man’s 2015 return, $740 from the man’s 2016 return and $1,300 from the man’s 2017 return. Huff will serve 23 ½ months of probation and pay $2,681 in restitution.
Renee E. Seger, 24, of Roulette, will serve 53 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 53 days of time served for charges of theft by unlawful taking in two separate cases. On Sept. 17, Seger pleaded guilty to allegations that on Sept. 2, 2019, she took $300 from her grandmother in the form of a personal check, and on Sept. 14, 2019, she took another $200 from her grandmother, again as a check.
Shane C. Lamberton, 30, of Duke Center, will serve one year of probation and pay $3,778.54 in restitution for a charge of theft by unlawful taking. On Oct. 29, Lamberton pleaded guilty to allegations that between Dec. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2019, he used a card belonging to Dallas Morris Drilling to purchase items totaling $3,778.54.
Lawrence D. Cook, 41, of Olean, N.Y., will serve 16 days to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for 16 days of time served for a charge of retail theft. Cook pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to allegations that he took $593.98 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Tanya M. Graves, 31, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation and pay $100 in restitution for a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a summary charge. Graves pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to allegations that on July 5, while operating a vehicle without permission from the vehicle’s owner, she struck another vehicle and failed to stay at the scene of the accident.
Derik N. Nelson, 22, of Duke Center, will serve 15 months of probation for charges in two separate cases. He is charged in one case with retail theft and in the other with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rikki L. Curcio, 28, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She will serve 14 days to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for 14 days of time served.
Austin M. Krouse, 20, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shawn A. King, 30, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for a charge of DUI-controlled substance and summary charges.
Zachary J. Gribik, 28, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation with a term of restrictive sanctions for charges of DUI-alcohol.
Chad A. Thornton, 35, of Portville, N.Y., will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
