The total number of cases of COVID-19 locally shot up for Tuesday’s reporting, with McKean County’s case count rising by 18.
Every ZIP code in McKean County has confirmed cases, with the last area, Ludlow, marking 1 to 4 confirmed cases as of Tuesday.
The total case counts as of Tuesday were as follows: Elk County had 9 more cases for 377 total; McKean County reported 18 additional cases and hit the 300 mark; Potter County had 5 more cases for a total of 110; and Cameron County remained the same with 16 cases.
In McKean County, Bradford’s case count increased by 10 to 109 confirmed and 22 probable; Kane had 2 additional cases for 33 confirmed and 5 probable; Smethport, 22 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Eldred, 14 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Mount Jewett, 13 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Port Allegany, 12 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Lewis Run, 8 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Turtlepoint, 7 confirmed; Rew, 6 confirmed; Duke Center, 5 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Derrick City, Rixford and Gifford, 1 to 4 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Ludlow, Crosby and Cyclone 1 to 4 confirmed.
In Elk County, St. Marys had 5 more cases for 178 confirmed and 14 probable; Ridgway had 1 additional case for 45 confirmed and 13 probable; Johnsonburg, 39 confirmed, 9 probable; Weedville, 15 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Kersey, 13 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Wilcox, 12 confirmed, 5 probable; Brockport, 10 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Benezette, 6 confirmed; Sigel, 5 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; and Byrnedale, 1 to 4 confirmed. James City in Elk County has not had any positive cases.
In Potter County, Coudersport has 35 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable; Shinglehouse, 19 confirmed, 1 to 4 probable; Galeton, 18 confirmed; Genesee, 11 confirmed; Roulette, 8 confirmed; Ulysses, 6 confirmed; Harrison Valley, 5 confirmed; Austin, 1 to 4 confirmed.
Cross Fork and Genesee Township in Potter County have no positive cases.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health indicated that there were 5,900 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 275,513. This is the highest daily increase of cases.
There are 2,575 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 558 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
According to the health department, McKean and Elk counties each had two COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of Tuesday.
The percent positivity for the counties, released Monday, was 7.7% for McKean, 7.9% for Elk and 10.1% for Potter.
