GRATITUDE: During a tough year, it’s nice to receive some cheerful mail. The newsroom is grateful to Era reader Bonna Burkhouse and her great-granddaughter, Lizzie, for the letter and picture we received.
Burkhouse wrote to us, noting that this is the time of year to be thankful. She shared her enjoyment of the history printed in The Bradford Era, including the WWI story printed on the front page recently, and the nature photos that are featured.
She told us to keep up the good work, and let us know the picture we received was colored by Lizzie.
We wanted to share Lizzie’s masterpiece, along with our thanks for the pick-me-up.

KENDALL GAS STATIONS: A regular contributor to RTS has shared an interesting tidbit about the 2020 calendar sold by the DuBois Historical Society. The calendar contains photos of two former ‘Kendall’ gas stations that were located in the DuBois area.
One was the Delaney Bros. station, located at Main Street and Long Avenue and the other which was located where the DuBois Harley Davidson dealership is now.
This reader took a trip down memory lane after making this discovery, remembering other locations for Kendall stations, including Kendall Avenue opposite Lloyd Smith’s, Foster Brook, where Tim Horton’s is located today, near Grant’s Curve (where the Pet Stop is today), Seneca Junction (Route 219 and 417) Eldred (Route 446/346) at Lantz Corners and at the intersection of Main and Congress streets.
The reader invited others to chime in with locations that were not mentioned.
