A member of the faculty/staff at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a dashboard of COVID-19 statistics on the university’s website.
The staff member tested positive for COVID-19 since Nov 12. Since Nov. 12, no students have tested positive for COVID-19, although 26 students have tested positive since Aug 1.
The dashboard only records cases that are confirmed positive tests, and it does not include university members who have not been on campus in over 14 days.
The campus is in a shelter-in-place, which went into effect Nov. 12. According to the website, the cafeteria remains open for to-go orders, and students are advised to limit close contacts and interact virtually whenever possible. Classes will continue in-person instruction.
The university has been operating at elevated risk since mid-October, when there were six confirmed cases and several other probable cases in a small window of time. At that time, gatherings were limited to 25 people indoors, 50 outdoors and faculty and staff were encouraged to work remotely when possible. Classes were to adjust to primarily virtual instruction.
Face coverings are required both indoors and out while on campus.
The campus has conducted periodic surveillance testing throughout the semester. Of 268 asymptomatic students tested, only three tested positive for COVID-19, a rate of 1.1%.
