The Dutchmen Education Foundation honored a Bradford Area High School grad earlier this month.
Timothy Puglio, a 2013 graduate of Bradford high and faculty member at Annville-Cleona School District, received the Sara Ann Yorty Memorial Award during the district’s school board meeting.
“This award celebrates the outstanding contributions of members of the A-C faculty and staff, K-12, who have gone above the call of duty in their devotion to students and made an impact on some of them,” according to the foundation.
Students in grades two, six, eight and 12 nominate people who have made a difference to them, and the foundation chooses recipients based on students’ letters.
Puglio has been teaching fourth, fifth and sixth grade band at Annville Elementary School since 2017.
The award states, “Mr. Puglio is an individual who is uniquely, intuitively and purposely motivated to inspire students in his care; whose compassion, encouragement and patience go far beyond what is expected.
“Mr. Puglio is always searching, exploring and touching the lives of students by molding and developing their minds. He challenges and inspires them to see and reach their full potential.”
Pugio was the 2012-13 drum major at Bradford Area High School and is a 2017 graduate of Messiah College. He resides in Hummelstown.
