A Bradford man died in what is believed to be an accident or medical episode while walking in Willow Dale Cemetery Sunday night or Monday morning.
Phil Verolini, 67, of Bradford was found dead just after 9 a.m. Monday morning, according to Bradford Township Police.
Police Chief Robb Shipman said a passerby saw Verolini’s vehicle at the cemetery about 10 p.m. Sunday, and saw that it hadn’t moved by 9 a.m. Monday. The passerby called 9-1-1.
“It was common for him to walk there,” Shipman said of Verolini.
“It looks like he possibly had a medical episode or lost his footing and fell over the side of one of the bridges that go through Willow Dale Cemetery,” the chief explained. “He landed and hit his head. When he landed in the water, there’s a concrete base and it looks like he struck that.”
Shipman said when emergency responders arrived, Verolini had “been down for a length of time, and there was no way to revive him.”
The chief said there was no sign of foul play, and the district attorney’s office, coroner’s office and Bradford Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Shipman asked that anyone who was in the area Sunday night to Monday morning, and may have seen anything, to contact the township police.
