Three local counties saw an increase in COVID-19 cases between Friday and Sunday, with McKean County reporting an increase of 11 cases for a total of 193 total cases, 151 which were confirmed and 42 which were probable.
Elk County reported 20 new cases for a total of 270, with 228 confirmed and 42 probable, and Potter County reported 6 new cases for a total of 76, with 72 confirmed and 4 probable. Cameron County, however, held steady at 14 cases, with 12 confirmed with 2 probable. No new deaths were reported in any of the four aforementioned counties.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health did not provide updated statewide numbers on Sunday.
As of Saturday, the statewide total had risen to 227,985, which is an increase of 4,035. Out of those cases, 218,442 are positive and 12,452 are probable. According to the Department of Health, this is the highest daily increase of cases thus far.
Also, an additional 45 deaths attributed to COVID-19 had been reported, with the statewide total now at 9,020.
There are 5,180 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 646 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
Additionally, there are 2,426,121 individuals who have tested negative to date.
There are 1,597 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 345 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
