The number of cases of COVID-19 at Bradford Area School District increased over the weekend.
The district sent messages to local parents advising them of new cases at two schools, as well as the fact that continued spread might prompt administrators to reconsider the current in-person class model.
Classes will resume as normal today.
On Saturday, the school announced that another student at School Street Elementary School tested positive for the disease. The school has notified staff members and families of students who were in close contact with that student. Close contacts are being asked to quarantine.
“Unfortunately, the spread is coming from contacts within the community and it may not be sustainable for the school district to contact trace in this manner for much longer,” the message to parents on Saturday cautioned. “Should the spread continue we may need to go online with entire buildings in the near future.”
The community was reminded to continue to wear masks and practice social distancing.
On Sunday, the district reported that a student at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School tested positive for COVID-19, too.
As in the School Street case, the district completed contract tracing for the student, following guidance by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
