The Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League kicked off its 30th annual event with a Quick Chess Championship held Wednesday in the fellowship hall at the First Baptist Church located on Congress Street.
The Junior Varsity was divided into two sections: JV-1 and JV-2. Mike Jones and Rob Ferguson served as tournament directors for JV-1, while Ron Buchheit and Ryan Ferguson organized and directed JV-2.
First through third place were awarded to both sections. In JV-1, first place was awarded to Jamin Bell. Second place honors were earned by Ewan Bell, and Owen Tingley captured third place. In JV-2, top honors went to Luke Seals with a perfect score. Ivan Seals won second place, and Penelope Papinchak took third place.
The varsity section’s quick chess event will be scheduled later in the season.
The Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League will begin matches against other Bradford businesses on Wednesday.
