All four local counties saw an increase in COVID-19 cases over the Halloween weekend, with Elk County reporting 21 new cases.
Between Friday and noon on Sunday, Elk County’s case total rose to 198 cases, comprising 160 confirmed and 38 probable, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
In McKean County, the case total increased by 5 to 162, with 126 confirmed and 36 probable cases. Potter County’s rose by 2 for a total of 60 — 56 confirmed and 4 probable — and Cameron County’s rose by 1 for a total of 10 — 8 confirmed and 2 probable.
While the Department of Health provided updated county-by-county information on Sunday, the statewide totals were last updated on Saturday.
The department reported an additional 2,510 positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday throughout Pennsylvania, which brought the statewide total to 208,027.
“Daily increases are now the highest they have ever been since the start of the pandemic,” the press release from the department stated.
Between Oct. 24-30, 257,367 tests were administered with 14,938 positive cases. The results for 45,416 tests were reported to the department through 10 p.m. Oct. 30.
There were 28 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 on Saturday, for a total of 8,812 in Pennsylvania, according to the Department of Health.
There were no new deaths in the local area.
The department reported that 3,403 individuals have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases, and 647 individuals have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
To date, 2,314,634 individuals have tested negative.
