Zonta ClubThe Zonta Club of Bradford held its regular dinner meeting on Tuesday at The Pennhills Club.
President Fran Stewart called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance and Zonta Blessing were recited.
An installation ceremony was held for new officer Karolyn Graves and new member Ronda Skoken. Patti Neidich presented Graves and Skoken with a yellow rose.
The minutes from the Oct. 14 meeting were reviewed and approved. Carma Horner reviewed the budget, bylaws and policy/procedures.
The poinsettia sale has begun and will continue until Nov. 10. The plants will arrive for delivery the first week in December. Anyone with questions or wishing to purchase a plant may contact Holly Puglio, 814-362-7785, or Karolyn Graves, 814-368-8092.
Shelley Harvey introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Jill Owens. Owens spoke, via Zoom, on women’s health. She accepted questions from the group after the presentation.
The meeting ended with Happy Dollars and a 50/50 drawing. The next general meeting will be held on Nov. 19 at The First Presbyterian Church. The club will complete its ELF Fund service project.

SMETHPORT — Take Off Pounds Sensibly #623 met on Tuesday evening with weigh-ins at 4:30 p.m. at Chico’s Cafe and Bake Shoppe located at 101 W. Main St. in Smethport.
Eleven members weighed in with a loss of 5.6 pounds. Members are to stay away from pasta this week.
Jayme read an article titled “Watch Your Sugar, Help Your Ticker.” Consuming lots of sugar increases one’s risk of cardiovascular disease. Members were advised to assess their sugar intake daily. Sugary drinks are a “no no.” Women should limit daily added sugar to 25 grams or 100 calories and men 150 calories.
Kathy will lead chair exercise to music next week.

The weekly meeting of Take Off Pounds Sensibly #16 was held on Wednesday at The First Presbyterian Church on 54 E. Corydon St. at 1 p.m.
Leader Vickie Johnson called the meeting to order with the TOPS and KOPS Pledge.
Weight Recorder Carole VanSickle and Weight Recorder Barb Smead weighed in 18 members with a loss of 8.7 pounds and two staying the same.
The song was “Trick a Treating” to the tune of “Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
Best Loser of the week is Jessie Skillman, Best Loser in Waiting is Nan Stoling and Officer of the Week is Barb Smead.
Nickelodeon was fried foods. The fruit is bananas, and the vegetable is peas. The food to avoid is cookies.
Healthy tips were shared by Elaine Harris, fashion tips by Dianna Lewis, and a household tip by Chris McCracken.
Members were reminded to bring in brown lunch bags and Ziploc baggies and canned items for the Friendship Table.
The program was a Halloween skit by Carole Van Sickle and Barb Smead called “The Great Pumpkin” with Elaine Harris, Jamie Larson, Jessie Skillman, Dianna Lewis, Liz Tanner and Chris McCracken.
The meeting was adjourned with the Friendship Circle and the TOPS Prayer.
