Concern about rising case counts of COVID-19 have led to the cancelation of several Halloween events in Ridgway.
According to social media posts, the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center in Ridgway has opted to cancel Trunk or Treat.
The Children’s parade, hosted by Ridgway Lions Club, is also canceled for 2020.
The pet parade, which was organized by Ridgway Animal Haven, is also canceled.
The Borough and Township will still allow Trick or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday by porch light invitation. Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to wear a cloth mask and practice social distancing as they seek out treats.
The Welcome Center was open Wednesday and will be open this morning from 8 to 11 a.m. to receive donations, which will then be dropped off at Ridgway Elementary and St Leo’s Thursday afternoon. Any business or residents who already purchased candy can opt to donate it to this effort in order to have the candy still reach goblins, witches and superheroes this Halloween. Several businesses and an anonymous Ridgway resident dropped off goodies Wednesday, helping to make sure that kids can enjoy candy and coloring books despite the cancelation of Trunk or Treat.
