With Halloween approaching, it seems as though Mother Nature has some tricks of her own for McKean County and the surrounding areas.
According to Steve Travis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College, the area may potentially see some snow tonight into tomorrow morning.
Travis explained that the rain happening today and into the evening is due to remnants of Hurricane Zeta, which has been making its way up the Gulf Coast. As that storm system moves away this evening, colder air is going to move in from the North.
“As the cold air moves in, it may just get cold enough for that rain to turn into snow late Thursday night/Friday morning,” he said.
While the forecast doesn’t predict a lot of snow, Travis said it is “still notable” as it will be the first snow of the season for many.
“We’re expecting less than an inch of snow, so again, not a lot,” he said. “It probably won’t stick in many areas, but for many people, this will be the first snow we see.”
Trick-or-treaters may want to bundle up, but need not worry about precipitation, as it’s expected to be sunny with highs in the mid 40s during the day Saturday and mostly clear with lows in the lower 30s Saturday night.
