WASHINGTON — The Rixford, Pa., Water Association was awarded $153,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Water and Waste Disposal loan and grant program.
“Upgrading water infrastructure provides a path to economic growth and protects the health and safety of people who live and work in rural areas,” USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Bette Brand said. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Perdue, USDA continues to be a strong partner to rural communities, because we know that when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”
This Rural Development investment will be used to replace two steel standpipes that are beyond repair with one 43,000-gallon glass fused steel tank. Funds will also be used to purchase and install a chain link fence which will surround the new tank for security reasons. Proper chlorine detention for disinfection treatment of the well water will also be provided by the new tank.
The 220 projects funded will help improve rural water infrastructure for 787,000 residents.
